Weird Weather

Yesterday I worked 4p-midnight. When I left for work the wind was blowing light snow flurries. By the time I drove the three blocks to Virginia, the sun was out bright enough to put on my sun glasses and steam was rising from the pavement. I drove down Plumb to the freeway and got on. Before I reached the next exit, the snow was picking up like mad and by the following exit, it was a near white out blizzard blowing sideways into my windshield. I could barely see three cars in front of me. I just shook my head. The traffic was moving slow enough to feel safe and I wasn't worried about the snow sticking because the temps have been too high, but I was still thinking, "Damn, it's almost May, wtf!" When I got off the freeway and traveled a few blocks down McCarran the snow had subsided quite a bit. I drove the rest of the way to work with thick puffy snow falling hard enough to need my windshield wipers the whole time. After I had been at work for about 20 minutes, the sun came out bright and shiny for a lovely sunset.

People here always say, "If you don't like the weather in Reno, wait ten minutes and it will change." They are not kidding. In the last ten days I have seen it hot enough to sunburn my back in the garden, cold enough to snow, wet enough to rain and a wind storm that makes the Santa Anas look like a warm breeze. This has got to be the weirdest weather on the planet.

Oh well, at least it's never dull. Have a fabulous day!
