I made the mad dash to LA for a few days on a mission. Landed on Thursday afternoon, Josh picked me up, we went to Titos on the way to
Raym's. We made a quick stop at Josh's place for soda
acquired on a recent shoot - (side benefits of driving the truck.). Had dinner and laughed with my sons, a perfect day.
Friday, I went to Mom's at the crack of dawn, hung out and drank coffee till traffic was over and we could go downtown on a mission to secure fabric and such to decorate Jenn's wedding. I knew what I wanted and I was hoping for a buck fifty, tops per yard, could have paid two , but hoped I didn't have to. Mom and I zipped on the freeway 9:45ish with no traffic, parked quickly at the spot where I always park downtown and walked across the street to the first store we saw. I saw exactly what I wanted, and asked the price he asked me how much I wanted, I told him and he quoted a dollar a yard. Done. I asked where to get the other item I was looking for and he directed us around the corner while his son put the fabric in the car across the street. We went straight in were directed to we wanted in less than a minute, great price again. Done. Mom and I were back on the freeway in less than a half an hour. It was awesome. We would probably been back in Santa Monica within an hour had we not sat in bumper to bumper traffic for about half an hour, which was fine with me. I don't often have Mom all to myself and we had a nice talk on the way home before we headed to the beach with Ginny. The beach was beautiful even through the over cast, but the sun cam e out before we left, and I considered that a gift. A perfect day.
Saturday Josh,
Raym, Lacey and I went to see Avatar at 11:30a, it had rained pretty good Friday night, but the morning was simply gorgeous, clear blue skies, nice warm sun. We picked up
breakfast and ate it in the courtyard at Hughes Center.

We discussed the sense of seeing a three hour movie on such a nice day, but, oh well, we bought the tickets online the night before, it was supposed to rain. The movie was worth every minute. It was a pure pleasure ride for the eyes. He told the age old story,
Raym described as Dances with Wolves on a different planet, but hey, that was a great story and I am all about people who honor and revere the planet they live on, striving to deepen connection with it. Any way, good movie and the sun was bright as ever when we got out. After a quick stop at Mom's to pick up the fabric,
Raym, Lacey and I took a stroll in Venice. A perfect day.

On Sunday We all went to the baby shower for Frances and Dustin. They are just adorable, the party was so much fun with all the games and nonsense, which was well
received by all.
Raym was runner up in two event including the baby food eating and guessing contest. The following are a few of my favorite shots of the day.
Everyone had to guess the size of Frances' belly.

Dustin was sporting his new glasses. Classic.

There were several word games.

Yes, you could work in pairs....

Josh and
Shariff were partners in this game....

...and
Shariff, the attorney, had a beef with the answers!

It was a lovely sunny day, a great group of people, laughing and loving. Left that party, went straight to the airport to enjoy incident free, on-time travel, despite the snow storm that occurred while I was walking on the beach in Venice on Saturday and sitting in the sun with all my boys that very day. Just one more perfect day among many. Thank you, Universe, thank you.
