The First Daisy

Blink! May's Gone

The older I get the faster calendar numbers seem to pass, yet in my everyday life, I feel like time stands still for me as I move through the tasks at hand. I do what I want to do when I want to do it, even though I punch a clock at work, I enjoy going. I love the drive with the views of changing landscapes unfolding before me as I crest a hill or round a bend. The city lights or the rising sun over dark low mountains in the east; downtown in the distance, the the snow capped majesty of the Sierra Nevadas that cradle Lake Tahoe the backdrop, it's just plain eye candy. The sky is often the brightest blue and the clouds are simply amazing, so different from day to day.

It's pouring down rain right now, I am thinking tomorrow, (or today, depending on your schedule, hehe), may be too wet in the yard to get much done, so I decided to get a jump on the blogging I have been wanting to do. Twenty days have past since I posted last. I have taken pictures, done a ton of yard work, spent three days in LA with Grey, moved through another phase of work on my self portrait, written fiction, worked, ate, slept. I've laughed a lot every day.

I'm sorting out the pictures to share in days to come, see you then.

Have a simply delightful day!

Grey

She's five weeks old now. These are a few Frances and Dustin have posted on Facebook. I have some other cute ones that Frances sent to my phone...but I haven't figured out how to get them off my phone, go figure.

Have a great day!

The Front Corner

I have been looking at this tree/bush ever since I moved in, trying to figure out what to do here. A good portion of this tree is dead in the middle and it is just kinda ugly over all. I sometimes go out and pick at the branches and just feel into the whole area waiting for it to speak to me. I really wanted to finish the front and side of the house before I concentrated on the back yard, so yesterday and today, I threw myself into it. I repeat this photo as the before since I forgot to take pictures before I started yesterday morning.

Yesterday, I started by moving all the white rock out of this area. I am going to plant rosemary over here. I wanted a spot away from the rest of the herbs because rosemary will take over the planet if one let's it, plus it is a big bushy plant that will fill in this corner very nicely.
This morning I still had to clean the whole front part and trim the tree. I may have gotten more done yesterday, but I was forced in the house when it started SNOWING AGAIN. I looked forward to trimming the tree, 'cuz hay, who doesn't want to use a chain saw, right? This house is so cool for coming with it's own workshop complete with just about every power tool you could name. When I got the saw out of the garage, I looked up the owners manual on line. It told me to add oil, a certian kind, which, of course, I found a gallon of in the garage. The blade did come off during the first round, so I was forced to take the thing apart to fix it. Now I know that it's really easy, so no worries.
Ah, clean and ready to plant.

I used the rocks to create some height in the back, then put a good thick layer of dirt on top. I am going to fill in the front with some annuals and plant some morning glory to run along the porch rail. Hopefully the morning glory will come back every year. I am going to fill in the middle of the tree with potted flowers, either small ones on the stumps or a big bowl that I tie to the branches, we will see what I find.

Feels good to have that done, so I can focus on the back yard tomorrow.

Have a spectacular day!
